Alonso To Announce 2009 Team Soon

Fernando Alonso revealed today that he will make a decision about his team for 2009 “soon“, but said reports of an announcement in seven days time at Monza were wide of the mark.

“I will decide very soon on what I will do next year and what possibilities there are but there is not a fixed day.”

The 27-year-old is believed to have signed for Ferrari for 2010, but have an option to join in 2009 in the event of Kimi Raikkonen retiring, but he has also been linked with moves next year to Honda or BMW-Sauber.

However, he dismissed as “untrue” rumours that all will be revealed ahead of the Italian grand prix in a week.

Neal’s View: It seems that Alonso cannot reveal his 2009 destination until a certain someone decides on his future. Step forward Mr. Kimi and decide whether you still have the motivation or not.
